Joel Bardolet presents Intertwined Paths

Violinist Joel Bardolet opts for contemporary music in Intertwined Paths. Developed over time, with the collaboration of pianist Marco Scilironi and cellist Alessio Pianelli, Intertwined Paths (SEED 002) is the first solo CD by violinist Joel Bardolet (Vic, 1987). Recorded at the Auditori Espai Ter in Torroella de Montgrí, with musical production by N (Santi Barguñó and Hugo Romano), this album includes works by Georg Philipp Telemann: Bardolet creates a dialogue between Fantasie n. 7 in E-flat Major and György Kurtág’s work, Signs, Messages and Games. But that is not all: this album includes the first recorded version (World Premiere Recording) of the work El inabastable perfil for violin and piano by prize-winning composer Miquel Oliu. As a whole, the title of Bardolet’s volume is borrowed from the Intertwined Paths series by Swiss composer Balz Trümpy. This recording also includes a piece dedicated to Joel Bardolet, written by his friend and colleague Alessio Pianelli (J2728A -LOST, the title of which is a word-play referring to the ages of each musician and the first letter of their names), as well as a version as unconventional as it is seductive, of Arvo Pärt’s mythical composition Spiegel im Spiegel for violin and piano.

The comments in the booklet are by composer Joan Magrané and the photographs by Michal
Novak. This is a valiant and unique work which faithfully reflects the musical personality of one
of the most interesting performers of his generation.

“Bardolet demonstrated impressive calmness for a performer who is not even 30 years old and which directly links him with the most experienced musicians, those who display- above and beyond spectacular technical prowess – a unique and personal sound, as this native of Vic achieves with his violin dating from the year 1793.”
